Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Rumors & Leaks
After the stunning release of the Galaxy Note 5 in mid-2015, it appears the South Korean tech giant is set to hit the market with a trend-setting device, speculated to be the Galaxy Note 7. Over the past few months, the rumor mill has supercharged the spinning with fresh new ideas of what Samsung is expected to launch in the near future. The hype points to a powerful beast that will not shy to contend with the likes of the speculated iPhone 7. You may ask, why not Note 6? According to reports from trusted sources, it is clear that the next flagship will indeed be Galaxy Note 7. The galaxy Note 6 name will reportedly be skipped so as to bring the numbering in sync with the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.
Given what we have seen from Samsung over the past couple of years combined with the current competition status, you can never go wrong that Note 7 will indeed by a powerful machine. And while things are subject to change since nothing has been made official yet, it’s safe to assume that the information is accurate since it has been gathered from credible sources including Samsung’s official mobile blog, SamMobile.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Rumors & Leaks: Release Date
The Galaxy Note 7 is expected to unveil earlier than usual so as to fed off iPhone competition, just as it did with Note 5. According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Note 7 will be launched at an event held on August 2, 2016, at the Alice Tully Hall in New York. The site leaked images of the event invitation along with the following jingle “the next edge is just around the corner” in an event that Samsung named “Galaxy unpacked 2016”. According to the leaked image, one can easily see that the next flagship will have the number “7” in its model name.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Rumors & Leaks: Design
The same features that Samsung bestowed to the Galaxy S7 design will most likely roll over to the Note 7. Earlier reports suggest subtle changes to its looks including a different S-pen stylus and other things but the overall design will not deviate much from that one of the Note 5. Unlike the Galaxy S7 which features a fragile glass back, the Galaxy Note 7 is rumored to enclose aluminum back for added durability. It is also rumored that the design will be thinner with less camera bulge.
Recently, a leak from trusted sources reportedly confirmed that the Note 7 will be IP68 dust and water resistant up to 5ft and over 30 minutes, similar to Galaxy S7. Owing to the success of the Galaxy S7, it makes sense that Samsung would move the key specs that made the S7 stand out to the Note 7. The popular leakers at uSwitch received valuable information that the Galaxy Note 7 will be a fine blend between Note 5 and last year’s Galaxy S7 edge. SamMobile also reported rumors that the Note 6 may add an Iris scanner to its security features. Iris scanning technology and a scanner were spotted on a list of materials purchased by Samsung for research and development.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Rumors & Leaks: Display
This year’s Galaxy S7 came with a 5.5” display while last year’s Note 5 had a 5.7” display, so the probability of a having a 5.5” display on Note 7 is quite low. Instead, rumor has it that Samsung will unveil a 5.8” device with smaller bezels. Earlier in February, an earlier report claimed that the Note 6 would have a 5.8” display, and now that report has been substantiated by fresh rumors from anonymous reports. Another report surfaced at mid-May, reconfirming that Samsung will indeed unveil Note 7. The report also mentioned that the new device will feature a 5.8” curved display, similar to the Galaxy S7 edge.
The Galaxy Note 7 is expected to feature a QHD super AMOLED display or a 4K AMOLED display. This is not new in the market as we saw Sony launch the Xperia Z5 Premium with a 4K display. We do not expect Samsung to lag behind in this area and there are anonymous rumors suggesting the same. However, take it with a grain of salt as this is not the first time we are hearing this, we’ve listened to the same hype in the past too.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Rumors & Leaks: Processor & RAM
As we have witnessed in the Galaxy S7 which came with a Qualcomm 820 chipset, Samsung never disappoints in the hardware section. Instead of Qualcomm 820 chipset, the rumor mill points to a possible Qualcomm 823 to make the performance of the device better and smooth. As per the rumors, the Qualcomm 823 could have a higher speed clocked at up to 3.0 GHZ relative to the Qualcomm 820 which featured a 2.4MHz. While the rumors abound about this chipset, there is no evidence that Qualcomm is working on such a processor, as it has not been made official yet.
The Note 7 is rumored to feature a 6GB RAM which would make it the second device after the OnePlus 3 to feature such huge RAM. This makes sense because Samsung has 12GB LPDDR4 chips (gigabits) that are 1.5 GB each, so 4 of them add up to 6GB, which means 6GB RAM would be available. The internal storage is expected to be 64GB which is kind of common for flagships nowadays.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Rumors & Leaks: USB C Port
Rumors point to a possible USB Type-C port. Many Galaxy fans were dissatisfied by the fact that Samsung didn’t employ a USB Type-C port in the 2016 flagships since most manufacturers have already made the switch. Good news is that in early May, SamMobile reported that the Galaxy Note 6 could be the first Samsung phone to feature USB Type-C port. No rumor has surfaced as to whether it will be USB 3.1 or older. However, we hope Samsung will opt for the 3.1 since it can transmit HDMI and support fast charging.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Rumors & Leaks: Camera
The Galaxy S7 came with a new 12 “Dual Pixel” camera that captures impressive photos. This dual pixel technology dramatically improved low light shots and features a fast f/1.7 aperture. According to a big leak from GSMhelpdesk, the Note 7 will feature the same 12 Dual Pixel camera, but better than S7 in features and settings.
The GSM leak also suggests a large 4200mAh battery. This is a huge improvement considering that the S7 came with a 3600mAh battery. It is also expected to launch with a new Samsung gear VR2.
That’s what we have so far for the rumors and leaks, but we will keep on updating the list with new leaks and rumors. What do you think about the new Galaxy Note 7 that is just about to hit the market? Let us hear your thought in the comment section below.
